Marking the International Children’s Day: addressing equality with Schoolchildren in Batumi and Ozurgeti

In view of celebrating the International Day for the Protection of Children, the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, in cooperation with the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions, organised a series of intellectual activities for school students in the Guria and Adjara regions. This initiative, building on similar successful events held last year in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Akhaltsikhe and Telavi, is expanding to include more regional cities, with Ozurgeti joining the list this year.

10th-grade students from public schools in the Batumi and Ozurgeti municipalities participated in an intellectual game focused on equality and children's rights. The students answered questions about tolerance and equality and recalled famous Georgian and foreign public figures who played important roles in the protection of human rights.

The winning and participating teams were awarded certificates, gifts, and bookstore vouchers on behalf of the Council of Europe and the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions. This initiative aims to foster a deeper understanding of human rights and equality among young people, encouraging them to become informed and active citizens.

This activity is implemented in the framework of the Project “Enhancing Equality and Non-Discrimination in Georgia”. The Project is funded through the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.
