In a letter to the Prime Minister of Romania published today, Commissioner Muižnieks requested updating information from the Romanian authorities concerning certain major issues affecting the human rights of Romania’s Roma population. This dialogue follows up on the Commissioner’s visit report to Romania published on 8 July 2014, where a number of key recommendations were made. The issues touched upon in the letter include anti-Roma public rhetoric, forced evictions of Roma, segregated education of Roma children, and police violence affecting Roma.
