Vertical and horizontal influences
About this activity
In the first activity of this module you were asked to define yourself through images. You may have noted that self-identity and the image(s) you project to others will be influenced by the context in which you define yourself. Your sense of identity is therefore an intricate tapestry of self-determination on the one hand, interwoven with external influences on the other.
In this activity you explore in more detail how external influences - so-called vertical and horizontal cultural influences - play a role in shaping self-identity.
