- Description
- The Val-Dieu Abbey is a former Cistercian Monastery founded in 1216. After the French Revolution , the restoration of the Abbey and the return of monks in the middle of the 19th century allowed Val-Dieu to remain the only primitive Cistercian site still alive in Belgium in its historic buildings. In 2001, the Cistercian Order entrusted the Abbey to the Christian Community of Val-Dieu (www.cister.net/abbayes/fr/81/val-dieu).
