A refreshed National Action Plan for the Safety of Journalists was published in October 2023. The refreshed Plan covers the same five themes and commitments include:

The National Union of Journalists will create a new online tool where journalists can report abuse;

Public Order training for police officers will be expanded to prevent the unlawful arrest of journalists covering news events;

The establishment of a new forum of publishers and broadcasters, which has now met twice, to share resources and best practices for safeguarding staff.
