The AI Technical Committee set up at the Department for Information and Publishing has been studying the impact of artificial intelligence on the editorial and information sector. It has held several hearings to discuss how to protect the journalistic profession in general and specifically to protect jobs vis-à-vis the increasing role of AI. Various stakeholders from the publishing sector, including the Italian National Press Federation (FNSI, the Italian Federation of Newspaper Publishers (FIEG), the Italian Order of Journalists, Google, Meta Platforms, and Microsoft Corporation), presented their perspectives on the implications and risks of artificial intelligence for journalists.
