Within the framework of the joint CoE/EU Project “Promote Professional and Responsible Journalism by Supporting Regional Network of Self-regulatory Bodies” the Council of Europe organised on 15-16 December 2017 a Regional Conference on Self-regulation in Tbilisi, Georgia. Representatives of self-regulatory bodies from Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries and the Russian Federation attended the event.
During the meeting national self-regulatory bodies presented their work and exchanged best practices and experiences. They discussed various issues related to the developments and challenges facing the national self-regulation bodies in the region as well as the types of existing media propaganda and possible ways to combat it. Moreover, participants reviewed possibilities to further increase their cooperation via discussing the work of the Cross-border Complaints Commission. The network’s newly created website was also presented as well as the development strategy of the network of self-regulatory bodies.
