he training, led by Council of Europe consultant Mariana Kalughin, focused on preparing the carabinieri for the critical task of ensuring the integrity and safety of the electoral process. Participants were provided with detailed guidance on the general framework of the electoral process, the specific challenges of maintaining public order during elections, and the proper handling of electoral offenses and contraventions.
"The efficiency and fairness of the electoral process is determined by good cooperation between all authorities. IGC is a special entity with important tasks on election day and beyond. The smooth running of this process depends on the professionalism of the carabinieri, and their training is crucial to the feeling of security that free and fair elections give to citizens", said Mariana Kalughin.
This series of seminars is part of an ongoing effort to ensure that all regional directorates of the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri are well-prepared and informed about the latest amendments to Criminal and Contravention Code, particularly regarding their proper application during the election period.
The activity was undertaken by the Council of Europe Project Improving Electoral Practice in the Republic of Moldova, Phase III.
