A delegation from the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe carried out an electoral assessment mission to Poland from 18 to 22 October 2018. The mission focused on the Polish local elections that will take place on throughout the country 21 October and, in particular, on the elections in the cities of Warsaw, Lublin, Lodz, Krakow and Wroclaw.
Before election day, the Congress delegation, led by Jos WIENEN (Netherlands, EPP-ECC), thematic spokesperson for the observation of local and regional elections, attending meetings with various interlocutors, including the Polish Commissioner for Human Rights, Adam BODNAR, the President of the National Electoral Commission of the Republic of Poland, Wojciech HERMELINSKI, the Mayor of Warsaw, Hanna Beata GRONKIEWICZ-WALTZ, as well as representatives of diplomatic corps, political parties, the media and civil society.
