Jussi Ylikoski is professor of Finno-Ugric/Uralic languages at the University of Turku, Finland, as well as an adjunct professor of Saami languages at the Sámi University of Applied Sciences in Guovdageaidnu, Norway. His research interests cover the past, present and future of the Saami, Finnic and other Uralic languages spoken in Europe. Having acted as an editor of scholarly journals such as Finnisch-Ugrische Forschungen and the Saami-language journal Sámi dieđalaš áigečála, he is interested on the challenges and possibilities of higher education, literacy as well as academic writing and publishing in minority languages. He is a member of the Committee of Experts of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages in respect of of Finland since 2022.
