The Council of Europe has joined the #ProtectTheFacts campaign of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), in a signing ceremony at the Palais de l’Europe, in the presence of Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić and IHRA Co-Chair Sara Lustig.
The partnership between the Council of Europe and the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance aims not only to strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two organisations (established by a Memorandum of Understanding in February 2010), but also to reinforce joint efforts in combating antisemitism, xenophobia, and hatred.
This co-operation is based on the common belief that co-ordinated efforts around Holocaust education, remembrance and history teaching will only heighten the impact in member states and beyond. The European Commission, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the United Nations and UNESCO have already joined the campaign.
