On 12 April 2023, Intercultural Cities (ICC) expert Gemma Pinyol-Jimenez, led a workshop on integration and inclusion as part of the Estonian local days, an annual event organised in Tallinn by the Association of Estonian Cities and Municipalities (AECM).

This topic is of growing relevance for participating cities and municipalities, especially as they are welcoming tens of thousands of refugees from Ukraine following the Russian aggression. During the workshop, the intercultural integration approach and its four core principles were presented as a model for promoting successful inclusion of society as a whole. The relevance of multilevel governance of intercultural integration and of multistakeholders cooperation was also highlighted.

As there are currently no member cities from Estonia in the ICC programme, this event also offered a great opportunity to raise awareness about the programme, its network and practical tools from which Estonian cities and municipalities could benefit by joining the programme.
