The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Nils Muižnieks, will carry out a visit to Ukraine from 4 to 10 February 2014 to focus on the human rights aspects of the current situation in the country, including policing of assemblies and the use of force in that context, as well as allegations of abductions, ill-treatment and violations of due process.
The Commissioner will hold meetings with State officials and representatives of civil society.
At the end of the visit he will present his preliminary conclusions, while a more detailed report will be prepared after the visit.
