The main objective of the visit was to review the measures taken by the Armenian authorities in response to the recommendations made by the Committee after previous visits. Particular attention was paid to the safeguards against ill-treatment of persons in police custody and the material conditions, regime and health care service in prisons. The delegation also visited psychiatric establishments in order to examine the treatment and legal safeguards offered to patients admitted on an involuntary basis.
The main findings of the CPT are set out in the executive summary of the report.
In their response, the Armenian authorities provide detailed information on the steps being taken to address the issues raised by the CPT. The report and response are available in English on the CPT’s website: http://www.cpt.coe.int.
