On 6 February 2025, the closing conference of the EU/CoE Joint Project "Building an Inclusive Integration Approach in Finland" took place in Turku, bringing together national and local stakeholders, experts, civil society and municipal representatives.

The event, opened by Marja Ruotanen (Director General of Democracy and Human Dignity, Council of Europe), Johanna Suurpää (Director General, Department for Democracy and Public Law, Ministry of Justice, Finland), Mirka Muukkonen (Vice Mayor, City of Turku), and Giulia Porino (European Commission) highlighted the key achievements of the project, which has supported the implementation of inclusive integration policies in Finland since September 2022.

Through collaboration with seven municipalities — Hämeenlinna, Kuopio, Oulu, Tampere, Turku, Vaasa, and Vantaa — the project has contributed to the development of local integration strategies, national policy recommendations, and a Blueprint for a national coordination mechanism.

Participants in the conference engaged in discussions on the sustainability of these outcomes and their integration into local and national policies, ensuring continued progress in fostering inclusive communities.
