This year the Intercultural Cities programme will support the Portuguese Network of Intercultural Cities in the implementation of the pilot project: "Gender and Interculturality".
The project encompasses all cities of the national network. The project aims to promote intersectionality by integrating gender-based cross-cutting issues into the intercultural plans and strategies of the cities. The following activities have been planned in frame of the project:
- a preparatory RPCI meeting to share policies and practices;
- a guide with good practices (in Portuguese and in English);
- 3 webinars and 3 podcasts.
The focus of the 3 webinars to be organised was chosen by RPCI member at a preparatory meeting that took place on 27 April. The topics retained were: 1) communication; 2) health; 3) education. The webinars will take place on 30 May, 27 June, and 26 September (tbc). Since many cities have initiated work with the Roma community in this field, it was agreed to ensure the participation of Roma residents in this project.
