Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland is paying an official visit to Bulgaria on 12 October to hold meetings with the President of the Republic, Rosen Plevneliev, the President of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva, the Prime Minister, Boyko Borissov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniel Mitov and the Minister of justice, Hristo Ivanov.
This visit comes ahead of Bulgaria’s six-month Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers, starting on 10 November. Discussions will focus on Bulgaria’s agenda for the Chairmanship, Rights of the child, media freedom and the rights of the disabled and vulnerable groups. Other topics of discussion include human rights in Europe, the fight against corruption, migration and the situation in Ukraine
