Departure of experts

Experts

Deidre KEVIN
has worked for the European Audiovisual Observatory as an Analyst since July 2008 and is responsible for MAVISE - database of television companies and channels in the European Union edited by the European Audiovisual Observatory for the Communication Directorate General of the European Commission. She has a BA in Communication Studies from Dublin City University and a Masters in European Economic and Public Affairs from University College Dublin. She previously worked at the Stirling Media Research Institute in Scotland, the European Institute for the Media in Duesseldorf, Germany, and for several years as a free-lance media research consultant. She has carried out research on media markets, media law and policy, and the European public sphere for the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities, the European Cultural Foundation, and various national broadcasting regulatory authorities.

Anthony MILLS, Press and Communications Manager, International Press Institute (IPI), Vienna

Laurent ROUY
French, 38, is a journalist and a media expert, working in Belgrade, Serbia, for French televisions and French speaking radios, as a local correspondent. He is also cooperating with the Council of Europe, as a media expert, in Serbia, Moldova and Ukraine. A journalist since 1996, he worked first in France and moved to South East Europe in 2002. He has an experience of working with print press, local and national, Radios, TVs, and online media, including in managing positions. Since 2009, with the consultant cabinet Trans Euro Media, he s been engaged in various media monitoring and media reform programmes, together with the Council of Europe.

Georgios TERZIS
is Associate Professor at Vesalius College, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium and Senior Associate Member at St. Antony’s College, Oxford University, UK. He is the founding Chair of the Journalism Studies Section of the European Communication Research and Education Association. His research focuses on European media governance, journalism education in Europe and the development of Pan-European media.

Beran DJEMAL
is the Outreach Officer for the Turkish Cypriot community at the Cyprus Community Media Centre. She holds an MA in Political Science from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, and a BA in International Conflict and Cooperation from Stirling University, Scotland. She has been active in civil society for many years, most recently with The Management Centre of the Mediterranean, working in fields such as peacebuilding, human rights, and inter-cultural learning. Beran has previously worked as a journalist at Avrupa/Afrika and Cyprus Today newspapers, and has collaborated on a freelance basis with ARD TV (Germany), as well as Le Figaro and Le Monde (France). She also has experience in video production with Crew House (Cyprus), and was a contributor to filmmaker Vasia Markides’ `Hidden in the Sand`.

Michalis SIMOPOULOS
is Project Coordinator of the Collaborative Media Initiative at the Cyprus Community Media Centre, a project which aims to facilitate an improvement in relationships through dialogue, and increase opportunities for the media in the two communities to collaborate. He holds a BA in History and Politics from the University of Nottingham, and an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics. He previously held the position of Press Officer at the Cyprus High Commission in London, and has also worked in research on public policy and overseas development aid with INDEX Research and Dialogue (Cyprus), and transitional justice and reconciliation at International Conflict Research (Northern Ireland).
