The PACE Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, chaired by Gülsün Bilgehan (see picture) met in Istanbul for a hearing on "Changing mentalities : challenges and opportunities". The hearing considered the role of the media in this area in Turkey and the involvement of men in combating violence against women in Europe. It was preceded by an exchange of views with Nimet Cubukcu, Minister responsible for women and family affairs in Turkey. (programme)
