- Description
- The Historical Center - Engels-Haus and Museum of Early Industrialization in Barmen forms, together with the city archives, the historical and cultural centre of the Municipality of Wuppertal.
The Historical Centre in Wuppertal is split into two sections: the documentation on Friedrich Engels has been located in his grandfather’s house (1775), whilst the former ribbon factory (1880) has been converted as the Museum of Early Industrialisation, focusing on the development of textile industry and its social consequences.
The Historical Center - Engels-Haus and Museum of Early Industrialization in Barmen is a cultural facility of the Municipality of Wuppertal, supported and operated by the “Friends of the Historical Centre” Association.
The Historical Center - Engels-Haus and Museum of Early Industrialization in Barmen is an Individual Site of the European Route of Industrial Heritage.
