8th Training Academy on Cultural Routes
Visby, Sweden, 4-7 June 2019
Innovative approaches, challenges and opportunities for sustainable fundraising and youth involvement
The 8th edition of the Training Academy on Cultural Routes, organised by the European Institute of Cultural Routes, the Hansa Cultural Route of the Council of Europe and Region Gotland, took place in Visby, Gotland (Sweden), between the 4 and 7 June 2019.
Expert presentations followed by workshops were held around the themes "Cultural Routes Financing” and “Cultural Routes and Youth”. The training seminars explored innovative emerging trends and strategies for funding cultural routes activities and for youth involvement in cultural, educational, tourism and heritage projects, with a special focus on how Cultural Routes of the Council Europe can seize opportunities in these domains.
The 2019 edition of the Training Academy brought together some 60 participants from 15 countries, representatives of 16 certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, 14 networks candidate for certification and involved representatives of other organizations such as the European Commission (Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs) and UNESCO (UNESCO Associated Schools Network).

11.45-18.00 Guided tour by bus to parts of the island where stops will be made at landmarks with a connection to different Cultural Routes.
The tours start directly after the ending of the conference and, when returning to Visby, the bus will drop guests off at the airport at 6pm and then continuing to central Visby for those who are staying longer. Picnic lunch included.
