The 5th Tenerife 2020 Anti-Rumours Youth Summit, held from 2 to 4 September, gathering young people from Cartagena Libre de Rumores, Getxo Anti-Rumours Gazteak, Stop Rumores Barakaldo and the Tenerife children’s participation group 'Amiguitos y Amiguitas', took place this year in a hybrid format combining an integrated session in the La Esperanza Youth Camp (Tenerife) and online sessions for youth from all over the country.
A total of 26 young people took part in the integrated face-to-face session. Several activities were carried out, including the preparation of a draft 'Anti-rumours Declaration' under the lead of Rosa María Aguilar, Rector of the University of La Laguna, and Vicente Zapata, director of the Juntos En la misma dirección (Together in the same direction) strategy. It is also worth highlighting the pilot test of the "Escape Rumours", the participatory design of the "Anti-Rumour Museum", and the workshop on "Social networks and hoaxes: how to generate mechanisms to counteract them".
A total of 48 young people from all the participating territories took part in the online sessions which addressed the concept of the "Anti-Rumour Museum", and delivered a "Creative Workshop for the definition of four anti-rumour actions to be implemented locally”. The Creative workshop was facilitated by Fractals Educacion Artistica de Castellón and the outcomes were four ideas to be implemented over the coming months: 1) a collective mapping to identify places suitable for dismantling rumours; 2) an anti-rumours collage called “Artivism”; 3) an event to celebrate diversity; 4) and, in a transversal way, the 'Anti-Rumours Declaration'.
