International Migrants Day: Proud of my intercultural city campaign

In the words of Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General, “throughout human history, migration has been a courageous expression of the individual’s will to overcome adversity and to live a better life.”

Mobility is part of human nature and many of us experienced migration, be it through our own story or thanks to encounters with migrants in our cities.

The observance of International Migrants Day is an opportunity to dismantle prejudices and raise awareness of their contributions in the economic, cultural and social fields, for the benefit of both their country of origin and their country of destination.

This year, to mark the International Migrants Day, the Intercultural Cities programme wished to engage and give voice to the citizens of the member cities, regardless from their origins and backgrounds. It invited them to send their portrait photos or short video clips saying in their language how they are proud of their intercultural city!.

The campaign can be followed on ICC social media #ICCities.
