On 10 October, the Director of Human Rights and the Department for the Execution of Judgments participated in the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions’ (ENNHRI) 10th anniversary conference Advancing human rights, democracy and rule of law at a critical time in Europe: the role of NHRIs and ENNHRI in Brussels, Belgium.
The conference was attended by heads and representatives of NHRIs, representatives of the EU Commission, the EU Fundamental Rights Agency, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights and CSOs.
The Director of Human Rights underlined the important role played by NHRIs for the effective implementation of the judgments of the European Court, not only by engaging with relevant domestic stakeholders and monitoring at national level, but also through communications addressed to the Committee of Ministers.
