Opinion n°18 on the position of the judiciary and its relation with the other powers of state in a modern democracy
The Committee of Ministers has entrusted the CCJE for 2015, having regard to Recommendation Rec(2010)12 on judges: independence, efficiency and responsibilities, with the preparation and adoption, in 2015, of an opinion for the attention of the Committee of Ministers on issues regarding the status of judges and the exercise of their functions. The draft opinion on the independence of the judiciary and its relationships with the other powers in a modern democratic state will be submitted for adoption at the 16th plenary meeting of the CCJE, from 14 to 16 October 2015 in London.
Working party
The first meeting of the working party in charge of drafting the opinion took place in Strasbourg, from 18 to 20 March 2015. The second meeting took place in Bergen (Norway) from 3 to 5 June 2015.
