Congress welcomes its new cohort of youth delegates for 2025

At its forthcoming 48th session (Strasbourg, 25-27 March 2025), the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe will welcome 45 youth delegates from member states and – for the first time ever – a youth delegate from Morocco, a Partner for Local Democracy country. Aged between 18 and 30 years old, the youth delegates have been selected from a record number of 445 applications to participate in the sessions, committee work and election observation missions of the Congress in 2025, injecting young people’s perspectives on the issues discussed. They will also be developing their own grassroots projects back home.

Coming from a wide variety of professional fields and academic backgrounds, they are united by their shared commitment to advancing issues important to youth in Europe and promoting young people’s active participation in democracy. They are supported in their work by two trainers.

Youth delegates have been participating actively in the work of the Congress since the launch of its Rejuvenating Politics initiative in 2014, when the Congress became the first European assembly to involve young people in its work and allow them to speak at its sessions. Some 420 alumni have already participated in the programme, the scope of which has continually expanded.
