The Governance, Current Affairs and Monitoring Committees held their meetings respectively on 15, 16 and 17 September 2020 online (videoconference). Several debates on the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic and the stakes of major crises for European local and regional authorities were on their agendas. They examined, in particular, the consequences for the protection of the European Charter of Local Self-Government, local and regional elections, multi-level governance and the protection of minorities.

The Group of Independent Experts on the European Charter of Local Self-Government (GIE) also held a debate on these issues at its meeting on 18 September 2020.
