The Council of Europe is implementing a project Preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence in Ukraine, which is funded by the Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency (SIDA). The project, which finishes in August 2016, reflects the priorities set for this area in the multi-annual Council of Europe Action Plans for Ukraine.

The project aims at enhancing the capacity of national institutions in preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, and increasing awareness of violence against women and domestic violence. The overall purpose of the project is to prepare Ukraine for the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention).
