The meeting between State Prosecutors appointed for public relations and journalists focused on discussing standards and principles related to free access to information and the dissemination of information on criminal proceedings.
The workshop served as an opporunity to present the Guidelines for communication with the media, an important document developed for the needs of the Supreme State Prosecution Office, with the support of the Council of Europe.
The journalists shared their experiences, highlighting both the successes and challenges of their cooperation with the State Prosecution. The State Prosecutor emphasised the progress made since 2015, when the first service for public relations was established for the State Prosecution. This meeting demonstrated the importance of fostering transparency and cooperation between media and Prosecution institutions.
This capacity-building activity was organised by the "Protecting freedom of expressoin and of the media in Montenegro PROFREX-M" part of the joint European Union and the Council of Europe Programme "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkan and Turkiye", implemented by the Division for Co-operation on Freedom of Expression of the Council of Europe.
