Upcoming - Digital Future of Justice, TJENI Hackathon on 18-19 November 2023 in Paris

The digital transformation of justice is a key element of the digital transformation of public administration in general.  Ensuring the integrity, quality and credibility of the justice systems in the process of digitalisation are of critical importance. This process also creates new opportunities to better implement and embed human rights principles and standards in national judicial systems. Embracing technology can streamline court processes, improve case management, enhance transparency, open access to judicial data.

To contribute to these transformative processes, the Council of Europe is organising a hackathon under the project “Foster Transparency of Judicial Decisions and Enhancing the National Implementation of the ECHR” (TJENI). The competition will focus on boosting innovation and involving students and researchers from 6 countries to develop digital solutions to foster human rights approach in justice.

The hackathon will focus on the development of a digital tool allowing for automated indexing of text (judicial decision) with human rights categories. An algorithm shall assign human rights key words/tags from a list to a judicial text on the basis of contextual analysis of the text.
