Regional Conference
Larnaca, Cyprus, 10-11 November 2015
The Council of Europe (CoE), in co-operation with both the Ministry of Justice and Public Order and the Ministry of Health of Cyprus, organised the fourth Regional Conference on the Council of Europe Convention on the counterfeiting of medical products and similar crimes involving threats to public health (MEDICRIME Convention) in Larnaca, Cyprus, on 10-11 November 2015.
The aim of the Conference was
- to encourage States to sign and ratify the Convention;
- to raise awareness among members of parliament, law enforcement agencies, NGOs, the media and professionals working in the field;
- to discuss the benefits and challenges in ratifying the Convention; and
- to exchange experiences, know-how and reinforce international co-operation.
Mr Andreas Mylonas, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, and Ms Popi Kanari, Director of the State General Laboratory of the Ministry of Health, addressed the participants and expressed the strong support of Cyprus towards the CoE’s efforts to combat the counterfeiting of medical products and similar crimes and announced that Cyprus intends to ratify the MEDICRIME Convention in the near future.
