Intercultural cities at the Global Forum on Migration and Development

Intercultural cities and its flagship anti-rumour strategy will feature in an important way at the Global Forum on Migration and Development "Sustainable approaches to human mobility: Upholding rights, strengthening state agency, and advancing development through partnerships and collective action" in Quito on 20-24 January 2020.

The goal of the Global Forum will be to strengthen the multi-stakeholder global dialogue on migration and integration in the wake of the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR) and the Global Compact for Migration (GCM). It will engage governments, cities, the business community and civil society to review the implementation of migration-related commitments in the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda through the High-level Political Forum.

Intercultural cities & its Anti-rumours strategy will be presented by Irena Guidikova, Head of Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination Division (Council of Europe) at the main Summit day on 22 January at the government-led round table on Shaping public narratives on migration and migrants, and on 23 January at the Civil Society hosted Common Space session, Theme 4 on "Promoting migrants' inclusion in host communities: shaping narratives and combatting xenophobia".
