Welcome to the Council of Europe Office in Baku
The Council of Europe Office in the Republic of Azerbaijan has been assisting and overseeing the implementation of co-operation activities with Azerbaijan since its establishment after the country’s entry into the Organisation on 25 January 2001. It also provides information on relevant activities of the Council of Europe to the general public and its partners.
The office works closely with Azerbaijani authorities, governmental and non-governmental organisations, civil society and the international community to ensure that the activities it carries out address the needs of the country. It accompanies Azerbaijan in improving democracy, human rights and the rule of law as well as in meeting its obligations and voluntary commitments as a Council of Europe member state.
To achieve this endeavour our office implements a number of co-operation projects prepared on the basis of a multiannual action plan with priorities harmonised with our Azerbaijani partners in order to ensure focused and efficient actions serving the best interests of the state and citizens of Azerbaijan.
