On 26 September, Embassies and cultural institutes of 16 European Union and Council of Europe Member States in cooperation with Azerbaijani partners marked the 2022 European Day of Languages by organizing public reading of poems and short stories in various European languages and the translations of these works of European literature into Azerbaijani. The 2022 European Day of Languages celebration and the first Literature Night in Baku were organized by the EUNIC Azerbaijan Cluster, established in February 2020 in order to bring European and Azerbaijani cultures closer together.
The public reading involving students of Baku-based European language and culture centres were opened by Rector of the Azerbaijan University of Languages along with the representatives of Embassies accredited in Azerbaijan including the Heads of the European Union and Council of Europe Offices in Baku. Mr. Petr Sich, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Baku delived an oppening speech at the event.
The celebration of the European Day of Languages continued with the first Literature Night in Baku.
