On 8-10 March 2023, the representatives of Azerbaijani national stakeholders (staff of the Government Agents office, Supreme Court and Prosecutor General’s Office) in the framework of a study visit to Strasbourg, France attended the 1459th Human Rights meeting of the Committee of Ministers' Deputies and met with lawyers of the Execution Department as well as lawyers and a judge of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). The visit provided an opportunity for a dialogue on outstanding issues related to the execution of judgments and for discussing best practices in re-opening of the judicial proceedings and implementing other domestic measures in line with a legal obligation to comply with the EctHR judgments.
The activity, which is held within the Council of Europe Project “Support for the improvement of the execution of the European Court judgments by Azerbaijan”, is aimed at developing the capacity of the national partner institutions and assisting them in identifying measures for improving legal framework and judicial practices for facilitation of timely and effective execution of the ECtHR judgments.
