The Council of Europe’s Eurimages Fund has joined forces with a selection of co-production markets all over the world in order to award the Eurimages Co-production Development Award. A cash-prize of €20,000, this award has been created to promote the Fund’s role in encouraging international co-production from the initial stages of a project.

Following the call for proposals launched in March 2023, the following co-production markets have been selected to present the Eurimages Co-production Development Awards in 2024-2026:

NB. At its plenary session on 18 March 2021, the Eurimages Board of Management decided to ask the jury members of this award to undertake in advance not to join the co-production structure of the project which will be awarded the Eurimages Co-production Development Award in quality of or acting as producer.

And the winner of the EURIMAGES Co-Production Award is…

Luís Urbano!

The EURIMAGES Co-Production Award presented within the framework of the online European Film Awards 2020 on Thursday 10 December went to the Portuguese producer Luís Urbano whose company O Som e a Fúria in Lisbon was supported by Eurimages as delegate producer of ARABIAN NIGHTS, VOLUMES 1 TO 3 and more recently SAVAGERY by Miguel Gomes, ELDORADO XXI by Salomé Lamas as well as PATRICK by Gonçalo Waddington (see the press-release). Eurimages’ President Catherine Trautmann and Executive Director Roberto Olla who both took part in this event paid tribute to the films produced by Luís Urbano whose brave choices and risk-taking have today led to the awarding of this prestigious prize. Since 2007, the EURIMAGES Co-Production Award has been celebrating how producers work to unite creative forces across borders. See the video on YouTube.

During the Grand Finale of the EFAs 2020 which took place on Saturday 12 December from the Futurium in Berlin, the Eurimages-supported co-production ANOTHER ROUND (DK, NL, SE) by Thomas Vinterberg received the Best European Film, Director, Screenwriter (with Tobias Lindholm) and Actor (Mads Mikkelsen) 2020 Awards while SOLE (IT, PL) by Carlo Sironi was awarded the European Discovery 2020 - Prix FIPRESCI and Dasha Dauenhauer received the Best European Original Score Award for the Eurimages-supported co-production BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ (DE, NL) by Burhan Qurbani.
