The Eurimages Board of Management has adopted the creation of two Eurimages New Lab Awards for innovative, non-conventional and experimental works exploring new forms of expression in terms either of content and/or format, i.e.:

the Innovation Award of €20,000 for projects in development to promote experimentation and

the Outreach Award of €30,000 for work-in-progress projects (in late production or post-production) to promote audience outreach.

Following the call for proposals launched in March 2023, two initiatives have been selected to present the Eurimages New Lab Awards consisting of one Innovation Award and one Outreach Award in 2024-2026, namely:

CPH:DOX in Denmark and

the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in The Netherlands.

A new call for proposals will be launched in 2026 to select the initiatives that will present the Eurimages New Lab Awards in 2027-2029.

These new awards succeed the Eurimages Lab Project Awards, launched during the 2016-2020 period for innovative projects exploring new forms of expression, and the conlusions of the "Study on the feasibility, pertinence and design of a Lab Projects support programme for the Eurimages Fund" entrusted to the structure Tatino Films (FR). The final report of this study, which was presented to the Board of Management at a plenary meeting in 2021, can be consulted in full or in summary.
