ICC National networks release their first quarterly progress reports in 2024

The first 2024 quarterly progress reports of the ICC national networks in Italy (RCD), Portugal (RPCI), and Ukraine (ICC-UA) are now available. They present the progress achieved by the national networks during the first three months of 2024.

Despite the difficult circumstances, members of Ukrainian Intercultural Cities Network continued working on promoting intercultural dialogue, social cohesion, engagement, and shaping more inclusive environments in Ukrainian cities. The network managed to organise its first annual meeting and participated in a round-table organised by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, focusing on advancing education in the state language and the languages of indigenous peoples and national minorities.

In Portugal, the beginning of the year was the opportunity to organise a face-to-face event with the network members to present RPCI annual project “Intercultural school” in Barcelos. The network was also involved in helping with the organisation of a study visit to Portugal of representatives of Finnish municipalities in the framework of the EU/CoE joint project “Building an inclusive integration approach in Finland”.

In Italy, the municipality of Portomaggiore has recently joined the Italian Network. A webinar on “Sport and interculture: Promoting inclusion through sporting activity” was organised in March 2024 with the participation of 20 representatives of cities, civil society organisations and experts.

Furthermore, two European projects, “NET-IDEA” (in which all three networks participate) and “DiverCities” (including RCD and RPCI as partners), are coming to an end in 2024 with closing events in the second quarter of the year in Sweden and France, respectively.
