The Council of Europe is a long-standing partner of the Public Broadcaster in Moldova and its documentary department, Telefilm-Chisinau. The Project “Support for Media Pluralism and Freedom of Expression in the Republic of Moldova” is helping young filmmakers in the development of high-quality documentaries on human rights issues.
Throughout 8 and 12th of July, the “Human Rights Documentary Films Caravan”, organised annually in partnership with the Public Broadcaster’s Documentary Department, Telefilm-Chisinau, gathered a large audience in the four cities and villages visited in the Republic of Moldova.
Held in the context of the Council of Europe Week in the Republic of Moldova, the open-air screenings of documentary films developed with the support of the Council of Europe Project, were organised in a penitentiary institution in Chisinau, in a care centre for the elderly in Straseni, in a public history museum in Calarasi, and in a healthcare centre in Codru.
All these events aimed to promote the core values of the Council of Europe, reaching out to audiences in the regions and giving visibility to the fundamental rights and freedoms and the positive impact of the Council of Europe’s work.
