On 24 November 2020 a delegation of the Supreme Court of Poland, upon its initiative, held a virtual exchange of views with a delegation of the Council of Europe.
The meeting took place against the background of previous findings by the Council of Europe’s Venice Commission, Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) and Consultative Council of Europe Judges (CCJE) that the reform of the judiciary which has been carried out in Poland has brought about structural challenges to the rule of law.
The delegation of the Supreme Court presented in a detailed manner the current functioning of the Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs Chamber and the Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court. It expressed its readiness to provide further information on the situation in Poland upon request.
