On 20 December 2022, a round table was held in Strasbourg to examine the Human Rights situation in the occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine.
It gathered Ukrainian stakeholders, including the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, representatives of the Crimea Platform, the Office of the Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights of Ukraine, Crimean Tatars (Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People) as well as prominent NGOs.
The event provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on the human rights situation in Crimea in the aftermath of the Russian armed aggression. It is a part of the consultation process aimed at preparing a second report for the Council of Europe’s Secretary General (the first report was published on 4 May 2022). The reports aim to provide the Committee of Ministers with a basis for assessing the situation and deciding on what potential measures to take.
